APD1100 Plate Diffuser
The APD1100 plate diffuser is a fine bubble aeration element whose rectangular body allows tighter floor coverage than disc diffusers. Its 185×1070 mm membrane surface provides 0.20 m² of effective area — roughly five times that of a single 9" disc. The same volume of air can therefore be delivered through fewer connection points, which reduces the number of joints on the grid, the potential leak paths and the installation time. The wide 2-25 m³/h operating band is a real advantage in plants whose flow varies noticeably through the day. In hotels, residential complexes or seasonal factories the inlet load can multiply at morning and evening peaks; a wide-band diffuser absorbs that swing without compromising membrane performance. Bubble distribution stays even at low flow and excessive pressure loss does not appear at high flow. Membrane material is specified as EPDM or silicone according to the application. Plate diffusers are particularly favoured in deep basins, where longer contact time gives fine bubbles more opportunity to release their oxygen into the water. During installation it is critical that plates are connected to the air header at equal spacing and at the same level; a difference in level makes air take the path of least resistance, so some plates receive more air than others. Balancing air flow per plate during commissioning keeps the grid working evenly throughout its life.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does a plate diffuser differ from a disc?
A plate offers far more effective area per connection, so the same air is delivered through fewer joints. Discs remain more flexible in small basins and partial refurbishments.
What matters during installation?
All plates must sit at the same level. A difference in level causes uneven air distribution and overloads some plates.
